RGV-AGC Celebrates International Women’s Day

RGV-AGC celebrated International Women’s Day with an organized luncheon dedicated to leading women and individuals in the Rio Grande Valley who are leaders in the construction, architectural, and engineering industries. The luncheon took place on Tuesday, March 8 during Women in Construction Week (WICW) which is celebrated annually from March 6 to the 12.

Women in Construction Week is a time to honor, educate, and promote women’s role in today’s construction industry. In fact, WICW has been celebrated since 1960 when the Women in Construction organization proclaimed the week to honor Amarillo, Texas Mayor A.F. Madison.

Women only make up around 10% of the industry’s workforce and WICW is a time to encourage and educate young women on career options within the field. Local companies such as D&J Site Construction, Noble Texas Builders, Saenz Utility Contractors and so much more contributed to the success of this year’s event.

Today, RGV-AGC is proud to be one of the entities to celebrate such an uplifting event.
